<< return to previous page Martin H Redmayne Chairman - Editor in Chief, The Yacht Report Group Having graduated in Business Studies and Mathematics back in the early '80s, as an "immature" student not yet ready for the real world of business, but with a love of sailing, a simple application was made via a classified advertisement in Yachting World to join a 90-foot sailing yacht as a second mate, deck hand, chef and any other crew position that wasn't currently occupied on board. This introduction to the world of the Superyacht lasted no more than a year, after becoming relatively bored with the slow pace of life and the constant polishing and sanding of varnish and teak. After a swift return to London, an interest in the media was fulfilled by various jobs within some of the largest publishing houses, until a senior position became available on the luxury yachting title Boat International. Five years later, in 1992, and after an in-depth look at the burgeoning superyacht business, a rash decision was made to fly solo and develop a brand new magazine that would stand alone as the only serious business journal focusing on the technology and business growth of the large-yacht market.
